I attempted this cross island trek last year with the infamous Paul Hoesmaneck (sp?) and due to the bad weateher we did not make it. We did it with fully loaded bikes, 70lbs. We camped outside at night. This year I will try again, this time with a little less gear and I plan to stary at hotels/onsen/hostels. I would like to do this trip sometime in July, but I can push it back as far as August. Any one interested?

I'm ALWAYS interested in an adventure. But, I'd need it to be later in August so I can get through all the crap I have going on this summer. If you don't mind waiting until then, you know I'm gravy.

The route. Only 181 miles. In three days? No problem. 8-) http://tinyurl.com/nr6bjg

Well Aug is out for this ride, but we will be riding a bout 1/3 the distance over to Karuizawa on 4 Sep. See post under Road rides. This is not canceled, just postponed. Date TBD.

I'm still interested in this (thankfully, softball season ends Labor Day weekend). Maybe sometime following Livestrong?

Sounds like fun. What can someone expect something like this to cost?
